Tony DeBlasio
Events Director
Tony's first interest in cars/hotrods happened when
he was 12, and his mothers cousin would come to stay with them when he
came home on leave from the marines. He would take him out riding and
racing in his old fastback Mercury that he souped up. He tried to teach
him the basics of engines, which helped when he took power mechanics
classes in High School.
His Dad bought his first two cars for him, which he took out of his
allowance
since he was only 15, so he would stop messing with the family car. They
were a 1936 Chevy flathead and a 1951 Chevy flathead, neither of which
were running. He took the 1936 into class and the car became a class
project, which Tony did get a "A" in. The 1951 he worked on at home.
Since then he went on to tinker with Two 1968 Dodge Chargers, and even
built a 1932 Ford roadster "Rat Rod" with a 440 motor. These he raced at
the now defunct Hollywood (FL) speedway. He tried his hand at motor
cycles with of all things, a 1961 BSA 441 Victor, which he raced up
Pike's Peak, once.
Although not his profession in life, as Tony is a retired electrician
(residential/commercial/automotive/marine) he has been very active in
the automotive field on a purely personal/pleasurable level.
Tony says that in his old age he has become acquainted with the fun of
restoring/cruising vehicles, with his first attempt/learning experience
being a 1955 Packard he had picked up locally, restored and sold, and is
now enjoying the 69 Ranchero he has acquired. Not as physically able as
he once was to put a lot of energy into the experience, He still enjoys
tinkering as much as possible. Both Tony and his wife, Sharon, do enjoy
the fellowship and camaraderie they have found with all of the cruisers
they have met, and are dedicated to promote the goodwill and enjoyment
of classic cars and their owners.
If your organization needs our would
like to have a "Display" of cars for an event, contact Tony, he'll round
us all up to help you out.
